FREJUS

So just to really prove I really am full of contradictions.
After my posting just two days ago, banging on about the beauty and relative
exclusivity of the great British lightweight...
Frejus.
Well what can you say, with the competition history of Maserati and all the right looks, if you are into the slightly older race bikes, who wouldn't want one?

CONDOR

Great shot of a Condor in action in 1976.
The English really where building beautiful machines during this period.
I know I will probably regret writing this, but....
If I had to choose between a '76 Colnago or the above '76 Condor,
 both running the same gear,
I am not so sure the choice would be that easy for me.

GEORGE AND KAHU WHAREHOKA

George and his younger brother Kahu, celebrate their first and second placings in the 1951 edition of the 100 mile Round the Mountain Classic.
Kahu who still at school at the time was instructed by his brother to attack towards the end of the race. When George saw that Kahu was safe in his win, he sprinted the field for second place.
Kahu Wharehoka, like his brother, where happier on the track.
George sprints Malcolm Simpson to the line in the 1956(?) 3 mile NZ Championship.

LEGNANO ROAD AND TRACK

These are some photos taken a while back of a Ron Cheatley's track bike and a road bike that I restored.
The road bike had originally belonged to the great New Zealand road man
Richie Thomson, who unfortunately passed away last year.
I did a tribute painting of Richie for an piece that I wrote about him for NZ Bike magazine.
He is riding this bike in the painting

If you like these photos I will have some more on the new blog coming soon
